Darius Rucker explained to Radio.com: “Miss You” is a ballad about that time in a relationship where everything seems to be right but it’s not,”  It is about as real as we got on the record.”

“I wrote that with Frank Rogers, my producer,” he said.”It came from experiences both of us had. “If anybody’s been in a relationship for a long time they’ve all been through ‘Miss You.’ It’s a song about being in love and everything going great but being too busy to show love. Either with the kids or whatever’s going on in your life, you don’t have time to have a romantic evening. My favorite line is, ‘How can we go all night and not even touch one another?’ I just love that line. That’s what the song’s about. We’re still in love so let’s be lovers.”

Maybe I’m am just a sensitive artist, but I must admit, the first time I heard this song, it brought a tear to my eye. And the second time, and the third time. My own tears were the inspiration for the visuals. I wanted to create a scene where a husband is writing a letter to his wife, the woman who has given him everything. She takes care of him and has given him two amazing children. Yet still, something is missing.  I wanted to express the sadness  a husband can experience when being next to the one he loves, and that woman does not have the time or energy to recognizes that he even exists. In this piece that emotion is represented by ink drops which are created by that man’s own tear drops of complete blackened sadness.

Darius Rucker and Frank Rogers both asked for their wife’s blessing before including the track on True Believers.

Enjoy!
